What is Animal Visitation and Animal Assisted Therapy?
Animal visitation and animal-assisted therapy programs both utilize the natural loving relationship between animals and humans to further treatment goals in nursing homes, schools, hospitals, prisons, and other places. Animals visit populations in need which benefit from the contact with a trained animal, usually a dog. Visitation and Therapeutic programs may be run by for-profit companies, non-profit companies, or animal ministry programs through churches or synagogues.
